Show Me The Money! Asking For A Pay Raise Working From Home

It's about bloody time for a pay rise *on my English accent* as the Brits would say. Do we really need yet another study out of the UK telling us how we should demand a raise after working from home for the past nearly year and a half?! Goodness, no!

I have invited hundreds, if not thousands, and only the good Lord knows who else, into my home, over countless Zoom classes, virtual summits, trainings, webinars, conferences, reflective consultations, after miraculously transforming my lovely kitchen every morning from my original décor intended only for myself and my family. This is all while appearing professional from the waist up in my fav go-to leggings😂. Anyway, besides all of that, I know that I am not the only one declaring that the workload has become even heavier from home versus the actual workplace.

And the shame and the guilt of requesting a day off! And why am I having to dip into a whole day's worth of personal time pay for missing a 20-minute meeting?! And vacations seem to have fallen by the wayside, because apparently some people seem to think we've already been on vacation for the past nearly year and a half. Smh.

The sources cited give us tips on how to choose the right time to ask for a raise, but for some employers the time will never be right. The study states to give bullet point proofs of evidence on how you have gone above and beyond; i.e., taking on work not in your job description while you patiently waited for the company to hire help for the past nearly year and a half! They go on to say to don't make it personal and to avoid ultimatums. And if your performance review/meeting is over Zoom make sure you're not dealing with trash Wi-Fi.

What I say is that if it is a must to jump through hoops just to ask for a raise then there is a NOW HIRING sign (and another, and another) not far behind, and raising their pay at the time of this writing, especially these days. That elsewhere will surely acknowledge and appreciate your worth.
