Stevie Wonder planning to move permanently to Ghana

One popular discussion among many Black people for many years now is moving out of the country. And Stevie Wonder is no different. With all of the ignorant blind jokes and memes online and the ongoing racial injustices going unchecked I cannot say that I blame him.

During a conversation with Oprah Winfrey, late last year on The Oprah Conversation, Wonder disclosed that he definitely will be making the permanent move to Ghana. It reportedly has been a lifelong dream of his. He doesn’t want his children begging for respect and admiration from others like they have to do here in these so-called United States of America. The legendary artist has visited the West African nation on numerous occasions and has felt a "sense of community" that simply does not exist here.

Stevie Wonder is an activist who speaks out against systemic racism, police killings, economic oppression of Blacks, and encouraged voting while calling out the former "president." The legend also lobbied and rallied and went on a national concert tour to support the King holiday campaign. Wonder wrote the 1980 hit song "Happy Birthday" to publicize the movement to declare Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day a holiday. The Stevie Wonder version has become a tradition to sing at birthday parties in the Black community.
