'Reebok needs to go Black': Why Master P wants to buy the struggling footwear brand

Adidas bought Reebok for $3.8 billion nearly 15 years ago back in 2006 in order to revive the Reebok brand- and it is struggling still today in 2021. Adidas is looking to sell and Master P is looking to buy. He says he has a plan to make the Reebok brand cool again.

Percy Miller has an impressive résumé. The multi-platinum hip-hop legend boasts his own shoe brand MoneYatti. P also wears many hats in entertainment, sports, and food. Master P cites: "Not only Reebok but in so many brands, African-Americans spend more money on tennis shoes, and I feel like it's time to add diversity as ownership in this business. But it's also time to be able to take control and show other African-Americans that it's time to open the doors. We are stronger together." One of Reebok's most iconic and best-selling sneakers is “the Question.” It was the first signature shoe of NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson, who Miller believes must be brought to Reebok's forefront, similar to what Michael Jordan is to Nike.

Mr. Miller's motto: “The more we make, the more we give... I feel like this is going to give so many opportunities for other African-Americans — all businessmen and women — an opportunity to say, ‘If Master P could do this, we can do it.’"
