Mom speaks out after Black son denied restaurant service

"I'll always fight for him," is what Marcia Grant said of her 9-year-old son, Dallas, when he was denied service from an upscale Greek restaurant in Baltimore. The city with one of the largest Black populations in the country refused the boy inside claiming he violated the restaurant's dress code. Dallas was wearing an Air Jordan t-shirt with athletic shorts and sneakers. Ms. Grant began filming the incident and pointed out a white boy wearing a near identical outfit while dining outside at the restaurant.

Atlas Restaurant Group, which owns Ouzo Bay, issued an apology after Ms. Grant's video went viral, calling the incident "incredibly disturbing" and says the manager is on "indefinite leave."

The company said in a statement. "We are sickened by this incident. We sincerely apologize to Marcia Grant, her son and everyone impacted by this painful incident." The company says they revised their policy so that children ages 12 and under, who are accompanied by an adult, aren't subject to the dress code at any of their properties.
