Whitewashing Black History...and the world keeps turning
A planned "Black History" Month was condensed to Black History Spirit Week and encouraged a predominantly white high school to play "dress-up." Thankfully after parents received emails about the "event," it was shut down. Melbourne High School Principal Chad Kirk is saying the event was planned by Black students at the school.
Kirk's Black history agenda:
(1) wear your African themed Dashiki shirt, (2) wear an African themed head wrap or turban, (3) dress up as an inspiring Black leader from history, (4) wear all black in honor of Black history month, and (5) wear the colors of your favorite African flag.
