"I'm Rooting For Everybody Black"

Jo-Issa Rae Diop, better known to the world as simply Issa Rae, is a creator and the star of the hit HBO sitcom “Insecure.” Back in 2017 Issa Rae stood on the Emmys’ red carpet and proudly and unapologetically proclaimed to a reporter who asked which people she was cheering for: “I’m rooting for everybody Black.”

The video went viral and everything from t-shirts to bomber jackets to coffee mugs were selling like hotcakes with the phrase on it. And of course she was called a racist.
