Go Awf Sis!!! The View's Sunny Hostin Grills Amy Klobuchar's Prosecutorial Record
Presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar says she is confident she will secure Black and Latino voters. But prosecutor and The View cohost Sunny Hostin drilled Klobuchar on her prosecutorial record.
Sunny Hostin pointed out that Klobuchar's office failed to “prosecute a single killing by the police,” and sentenced teenager Myon Burrell to life in prison in the murder of 11-year-old Tyesha Edwards, who was killed by a stray bullet. There was no gun recovered, no DNA evidence that Myon Burrell, who has always proclaimed his innocence, was involved, and another young man confessed to being the one responsible. Still, Klobuchar upheld the conviction and made it a part of her campaign in her 2006 run for the Senate.
When pressed by Sunny Hostin again on her history of tough crime specifically impacting Blacks, Klobuchar blamed systemic racism within the criminal justice system for her record. Klobuchar claimed she “worked really hard” to address systematic racism and "called for the office and the courts to review the evidence" for the one Myon Burrell case.
Sunny Hostin: “I’ve reviewed the facts of that case, and it is one of the most flawed investigations and prosecutions that I think I have ever seen. I mean, how do you defend something like that, to someone like me, who is the mother of a Black boy, a Black teenager. This case would be my worst nightmare.”
Klobuchar says more people just need to get to know her better. We have. And we hear you loud and clear. Girl bye!
