Black History

Today is the first of the month, of February, marking the coldest and shortest month of the year, better known as Black History Month. From the creation of historian Carter G. Woodson's Negro History Week in 1926 to Black History Month being recognized worldwide today, we celebrate the history of our people of the African diaspora.

"If a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated. The American Indian left no continuous record. He did not appreciate the value of tradition; and where is he today? The Hebrew keenly appreciated the value of tradition, as is attested by the Bible itself. In spite of worldwide persecution, therefore, he is a great factor in our civilization."
-Carter G. Woodson

I strive to focus on our history 24/7/365. These "notes" will reflect our people who have made and are continuing to make history in most recent times. Much respect to our ancestors who have paved the way.
