Warning Letter Issued Against Dollar Tree for Unsafe Medicines
The dollar store is fast becoming a go-to for one-stop shopping in lieu of a supercenter or a Whole Foods. Those of low-income and living in food deserts turn to a Dollar Tree for groceries, even. Also, those with fixed incomes and no health insurance are turning to the small-box stores for medicines. Countless people, I'm certain, have ingested the Assured medicine brands from Dollar tree, which also bought Family Dollar. Everything from heartburn, cold and flu, children's fever reducing medicines to acne treatment are affected.
Both stores are under fire for stocking their shelves with foreign drugs that have not been properly tested. Testing results were found out to have been falsified and that a pharma facility had rodent feces throughout. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration have sent warning letters to Dollar Tree for years concerning the violations. One can ponder: Why would anyone with half a brain shop for their food and make health care decisions inside of a dollar store? Begin re-reading from the second statement above please.
