New Year, New Laws
All throughout the year new laws are proposed. The new laws eventually go on the books and it is sworn that January 1st is the day that they will be enforced. Here are just a few:
A new police use of force law is now in effect in the state of California. The new law supposedly is meant for de-escalation and reduce fatalities.
North Carolina (and other states as well) wants you to move and get out the way. This law requires motorists to move over and change lanes to make it safe for police, firefighters, ambulances, utility workers, tow-truck drivers and disabled vehicles... or face a $250 ticket.
Also, image is everything and the homeless are simply cramping the style of the financial district of downtown Vegas. And so this has been in the works for decades, but beginning today, January 1st, a homeless person can be jailed for up to six months and have to pay a $1,000 fine if caught sleeping on the streets, if shelter beds are available. This is laughable!
